Shake, Shake, Shake!
Mercy Me newest lyrics published at http:/www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/mercyme/shake.html, encourage Christians to Shake, Shake, Shake, like you’re changed, changed, changed!
I would wish that we would have a “whole lot of shakin’ going on.” (Elvis Presley, different subject!)
I wish we Christians would shake with the change! The God Who created the universe, lives in us. Scripture says, “the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us.” That sounds like that should encourage sooommmmeee movement!
My Christianity Felt Like My WordPress blog!
For years, Christianity felt like, something I was carrying around, an add-on, a responsibility — something that I was “supposed” to keep clean and polished and usually felt guilty for failing, my vague but very detailed “responsibility.” Like this “new” WordPress Blog, that I have ignored, felt guilty about leaving behind 2 years ago, and feel clueless about how to use all the available features.
And, this internal condemnation felt validated by what I heard from God’s people.
Now I have always dabbled in reading Scripture. But I wanted to KNOW for myself, the trusting soul that I am (Not!), what was true! So the journey began, daily, in what I now call “Sitting With God,” I read Scripture — Read, not studied, although I wouldn’t discourage studying, just reading. What did I find?
and a different picture of God than the impression I had of God from the serial, well-meaning and true, series of sermons directing a new add-on responsibility week by week.
Do I have responsibilities? YES. However, is my Christianity only responsibilities? NO. What does God value MOST from us?
“Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
30. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul
and with all your mind and with all your strength.
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.‘
There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:28-31 New International Version (NIV)
What is LOVE? A task? Or, is it A Relationship?
Jesus response for the most important of all the commandments: LOVE HIM — LOVE OTHERS . . . huh,
What does a relationship with God look and feel like to you? What would Loving God and Loving Others look like?
